iSummerMX: Regional Economics in Mexico (in English)
PROGRAM CONTENT
iSummerMX: Regional Economics in Mexico is a four-week summer program designed for international students who love traveling and learning about new cultures and are interested in learning the skills to advance their career and venture out as knowledgeable young professionals in their field.
PROGRAM ITINERARY
Students will discover historic Puebla, modern Estado de México, colonial Querétaro, and the industrial and business center of Monterrey.
Week 1 (July 5-9): Campus Puebla
Week 2 (July 12-16): Campus Estado de México
Week 3 (July 19-23): Campus Querétaro
Week 4 (July 26-30): Campus Monterrey
PROGRAM INCLUSIONS
- Housing throughout the program
- Full transportation from Monday to Saturday, for all the activities in the program, and between cities

Course Description
Students will be exposed to the TEC21 educational model, an an ambitious university-wide program to rethink education. iSummerMX will allow flexibility as to how, when and where learning happens through company visits, conferences with experts, networking events and field trips.
COURSE DETAILS
Students will earn the equivalent of 6 U.S. credits during this four-week program.
1. Regional Economics
(Taught in English)
Advanced economics course focusing on the study of economics in its territorial setting, by combining relevant theoretical and empirical elements. It addresses topics related to sustainable development, such as pollution, resource depletion, productivity and consumption patterns, employment, unemployment and equity. This CAD course requires prior knowledge of economic growth and development. As a learning outcome students will understand the behavior of the economy at regional level, in particular the territorial concentration and dispersal processes, as well as the marked disparities in economic development at the subnational level and the logic that determines the localization of productive activities.
2. Mexican Economics Seminar
(Taught in English)
Advanced course in which students integrate the theory and study methods of economic science in the scientific analysis of the Mexican economy. This course requires prior knowledge of economic theory and economic science study methods. As a learning outcome students will conduct a scientific research project using economic theory and a topic related to the Mexican economy.
