LIFE ABROAD
Life in Belfast blends a lively, artistic city atmosphere with easy access to unspoiled views of stunning coastal countrysides. Ulster’s Belfast campus is situated in the Cathedral Quarter, where you will experience the city’s creative energy, historic cobblestone streets, and iconic architecture every day.

LIVE
Stay close to campus in university housing in a shared five-bedroom apartment where you will have your own private bedroom. Dalriada Student Village offers a shared communal space including kitchen and living room, as well as amenities including onsite laundry facilities, housekeeping services, and a maintenance team.
DINE
Cook at home with fresh produce from the farmer’s market or easily accessible staples from the nearby grocery in your shared kitchen space. When you are ready for a night out, choose from one of the many pubs and cafés that fill the city of Belfast. Local specialties include “fifteens,” Ulster fry, Irish stew, potato bread, pasties, and puddings. For ISEP Direct students, a month’s worth of groceries will be about 200 GBP. If you are participating on an ISEP Exchange, you will receive a meal stipend of 800 GBP per month.
EXPERIENCE
Ulster University has more than 90 clubs and societies, so it’s easy to get involved! Comedy nights, traditional music sessions, games nights, shopping trips, movie nights and learning how to play "Gaelic" football are just some of the many events organized by the Ulster University Student Union.

Maintain or start a fitness routine at the campus Sports Village which has extensive fitness and wellness amenities, including a spin studio, squash courts, sauna, steam room, and plunge pool. Ulster University’s Student Wellbeing Services also provides information and resources on general wellbeing, mental health and counseling, sexual health, disability services, and academic support.

Course Description
Ulster University is composed of three campuses, each with a unique academic areas of focus.
The urban Belfast campus features programs in Architecture, Art, Hospitality and the Culinary Arts, Business, Marketing, Engineering, Law, Politics, Communication and so much more.
The coastal town of Coleraine campus offers Biomedical Science, English, History, Biology, Environmental Sciences, Psychology, Media, Consumer and Food Innovation, Environmental Sciences, Tourism and Event Management, among others.
The historic city of Derry~Londonderry offers classes in Cinematic Arts, Computing, Drama, Music, Marketing and Irish Studies to name a few!

Credits Earned
Students who complete the program in good standing can expect to take 3 modules (classes) which ISEP recommends is the equivalent of 30 ECTS or 15 U.S. Credit Hours. Each course will be worth 20 UK credits.

Early/Alternative Examinations
Ulster examinations take place in January and May, however students whose modules have an examination as part of their assessment may choose one of the following. The examinations office at Ulster charge an additional fee per module for this service.
• request an extra piece of coursework (only available on certain modules)
• request to sit their examination at their home institution (not available for all modules)
As an ISEP student, you can build your own program by choosing your courses from a variety of fields. Use the notes for course searching to help you find which courses are available. Please note the following factors about requesting modules when applying:
Choosing Your Campus:
You must choose all of your classes within the same campus. You may sometimes mix classes from different departments as long as they are all offered at the same campus. Keep in mind that some fields of study are offered at multiple campuses, but one campus may offer a larger variety of course options in that subject, than the other campuses. You are not eligible to take courses at Ulster’s partner institutions.
How to Select Courses:
It is important to note, that in the U.K., the term modules refers to courses. Please use the "Website for Course Availability" link to find courses for ISEP students.
The modules listed here have been verified as suitable for study abroad students. Unfortunately, places on Health Science modules are restricted due to limitations set by the Department of Health.
Education, Social Work and Community Youth Work are closed to ISEP students. Also, due to restrictions on professional training, students may not be able to study nursing, physiotherapy, podiatry, occupational therapy and speech therapy. If interested in one of these fields, please inquire with ISEP before applying.
Not all modules listed online may be offered each semester, so students should select ample alternatives.
Understanding Course Levels:
The first three letters next to the module name represent an academic department. The next three numbers represent the course number. In the U.K., undergraduate programs run for three years instead of four like in the United States. Courses in the 100-299 series are first-year courses; the 300-499 series are second-year courses; 500-699 are final year courses. You are not allowed to take 000 modules ("Level A"), which are pre-undergraduate non-degree, or 700+ modules ("Level M"), which are postgraduate level.
What a Full-Time Academic Load at Ulster Looks Like:
Students are required to take three 20 UK credit modules (classes) per semester which is equal to 60 UK credits. A 20 UK credit module is worth 10 ECTS credits or 5 US credits.
Ulster University also accepts the following English proficiency tests:
-Cambridge Advanced English: C1 Advanced- at least 162 overall w/ no less than 162 in 3 elements and 154 in the 4th element.
-Cambridge English B2 First - at least 169 overall w/ no less than 162 in each element.
-Cambridge Proficiency in English: C2 Proficiency - at least 169 overall w/ no less than 162 in each element
