Other Academic Conditions

For information on modules (classes) available at Edinburgh Napier University, please visit their visiting students module portal.

The module (class) choice portal has been designed to allow for easy navigation of the available modules (classes).

• Click on a module to find a brief description of the module’s content. The page defaults to showing all modules available.

• To narrow by major (module choice group), click on the specific group. The view will reflect only the available modules within that group or subject area (e.g. accounting or biology).

• Be sure to click on the “General” group to view popular modules such as Scottish Culture & Society and Wine Studies.

Portfolio guidelines are available on the Website for Course Availability at the top of the page prior to choosing your modules.

Edinburgh Napier has a flexible modular structure allowing visiting students to devise programs tailored to their own needs. Modules in most undergraduate disciplines can be combined with one another. Participants are required to carry a normal workload of three modules per semester, but should also choose two to three backup classes for their application in case some modules are not available.

For students taking courses within the field of music, specifically instrumental courses, it will be the student's responsibility to pay any extra fees associated with these courses.

*There is limited availability for student placements in the following fields: Journalism, Design, Music, Photography and Film. For consideration, students who wish to take classes in one of these fields while at Edinburgh Napier must:

1) Be majors in the subject at their home institution

2) Have junior or senior level status

3) Provide a portfolio, audition, or interview where appropriate to demonstrate prerequisite knowledge and skills. Portfolio not needed for Journalism.

4) Be willing to commit to studying all their modules at Napier per semester within that field (for example, a request to combine one design class, one business class and one Scottish studies class would likely be denied because the subjects are spread across multiple departments).

**Students are responsible for staying until the end of the semester and may not leave before the final date of their semester exams. Neither ISEP nor Edinburgh Napier can guarantee an early departure; leaving early may result in a failing exam grade and/or forfeit of credit.

In addition to TOEFL and IELTS, Edinburgh Napier also accepts the following Cambridge Certificates:

-Cambridge C2 Proficiency (formerly Cambridge English Proficiency (CPE)): 169 overall with a minimum of 162 in each component

-Cambridge B2 First (formerly Cambridge English First (FCE)): 169 overall with a minimum of 162 in each component

-Cambridge C1 Advanced (formerly Cambridge English Advanced (CAE)): 169 overall with a minimum of 162 in each component
