Study in Germany (in German, English) - ISEP Exchange
Technische Universität Braunschweig is a research university with a rich tradition. For more than 260 years TU Braunschweig has provided a first-class education in the fields of engineering sciences and been at the forefront of technological development. The university is a member of the TU 9 - Network, the consortium of Germany’s leading institutes of technology. For 18,000 students TU Braunschweig is a gateway to professional life. Six departments and 120 institutes offer 65 different degree programs and excellent facilities for interdisciplinary research work within the fields of engineering, natural and social sciences and the humanities.
HOUSING AND MEALS
The Studentenwerk at TU Braunschweig has ten residence halls for university students. Room types range from single rooms with a shared kitchen and bathroom to individual spartments. Most rooms have cooking facilities. Students wishing to arrange their own accommodations must inform the ISEP Coordinator far in advance. Students are issued a combined monthly stipend for housing and meals.
SCHOLARSHIP
This program qualifies for the ISEP French and German Language Annette Kade Fund Scholarship. The scholarship awards $500 - $1,500 USD to students who are from a U.S. institution and studying French or German language in Austria, France, Germany, Reunion Island, or Switzerland. Learn more here!
Course Description
TU Braunschweig offers a wide variety of course offerings specializing in engineering, mathamatics, and computer science, among others. Students with a sufficient level of German may enroll in courses taught in German. There are many courses offered entirely in English as well!
Credits Earned
Students who complete the program in good standing can expect to earn 24-30 ECTS per semester. Students typically enroll in 6-8 classes per term. A term runs from about 14-21 weeks depending on the department. To determine how these credits convert at your home institution, please contact your home university coordinator.

ACADEMIC CALENDAR
• Semester 1 (called Winter semester): Mid-October – February
• Semester 2 (called Summer semester): March – Mid-July
Early Departures: Students should plan on remaining in Germany for the entire duration of the program. It may be possible to arrange exams somewhat early on an individual basis but not before February for Semester 1 and not before July for Semester 2.
PASSPORT: All students must have a valid passport to participate in this program. If you do not have a valid passport, we suggest you start the application process as soon as possible.
VISA/RESIDENCE PERMIT: Most students attending this program will be required to obtain a visa/residence permit. For more information on the process and estimated cost, please review the ISEP Country Handbook here.
