Braunschweig is a lively student city and the second largest city in the state of Niedersachsen. With a population of 250,000, it is big enough to feel cosmopolitan and still small enough not to be overwhelming. It is a friendly place, and easy to get to know yet still capable of holding surprises even after having lived here for many years. Situated right in the heart of Germany, Braunschweig is easy to reach. High-speed trains from Berlin and Hamburg take under two hours, and Hannover is less than one hour away. A public transportation network is available to students at no cost. Braunschweig is in Lower Saxony, about 30 miles east of Hannover, and easily accessible to Berlin, Warsaw and Leipzig. For nature lovers, the Harz Mountains offer ideal opportunities for hiking and skiing.

Students have many opportunities for exciting research and individual lab work at TU Braunschweig in many diverse fields.

Outside of class, students are also invited to participate in many collegiate activities. For the sports enthusiasts, check out the whole list of sports options available to students at the university here.

Also, if you enjoy meeting and learning about people from all over the world, Braunschweig is for you! The Erasmus Student Network provides students with opportunities for trips, events and weekly meet-ups with German and international students. Check out the ESN Braunschweig Website for more opportunities to get involved.
