Study in the U.S.A. - Southeast (in English) - ISEP Exchange
Join students from at least 36 different countries in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains at the University of South Carolina Upstate. Located in one of the fastest growing regions in the United States, Spartanburg has small town American charm with easy access to city life.
Students are welcomed at International Student Orientation and then will have the opportunity to join student organizations, intramural sports (including e-sports), and take part in the many social activities happening throughout the year.
USC Upstate has a student-to-faculty ratio of 18-1 with faculty who know their students by name and are invested in their success. The Center for International Studies is also available to help make your time in South Carolina something you will never forget!
HOUSING
Housing will be in The Villas which is apartment-style on-campus student housing. Each apartment houses up to four students with two bedrooms shared by two students each. For additional information, including amenities and floorplans, visit the Housing Options website.
MEALS
Students will receive the residential Platnium Plan through USC Upstate Dining Services which includes 19 meals in the university's all-you-can-eat cafeteria. Points included with the plan may be used at other dining establishments on campus. Additional information may be found by visiting the Dining Services website.
Course Description
USC Upstate offers a wide variety of fields of study to explore, including popular choices of Business, Psychology, Communications, Law/Criminal Studies, and Sports Studies. Some unique fields of study we recommend are American Sign Language, Child Advocacy Studies, Learning Disabilities, Community Health, and Advanced Manufacturing Management.
Students who complete the program in good standing can expect to earn 12-16 US credits. Students typically enroll in 4-5 classes per term. A term runs for about 16 weeks. To determine how these credits convert at your home institution, please contact your home university coordinator.

How to search for courses:
1) Visit the Class Schedule tool
2) Choose the correct semester and year
3) Select USC Upstate as the campus
4) Search by subject or course title.
Academic Limitations:
Nursing and Education courses are not available to ISEP students.
USC Upstate does not allow Graduate students to come and take Undergraduate level courses. Only Undergraduates looking to take Undergraduate level courses will be accepted for ISEP Exchange.
Some courses may require permission from the professor prior to enrollment. Courses may fill quickly and placement is not guaranteed.
Some courses may have associated lab or course fees which are the responsibility of the student. Fees may be found by visiting the Undergraduate Tuition and Fees page and look at the "Other Fees" drop-down menu. Any mandatory fees are not the responsibility of the ISEP student, but specific course and clinical fees are considered optional and are the responsibility of the ISEP student.
All costs associated with the purchase of textbooks are the responsibility of the student.

Departure Notes
Students are responsible for staying until the end of the semester and may not leave before the final date of their semester exams. Neither ISEP nor USC Upstate can guarantee an early departure; leaving early may result in a failing exam grade and/or forfeit of credit.
PASSPORT: All students must have a valid passport to participate in this program. If you do not have a valid passport, we suggest you start the application process as soon as possible.
VISA: All non-U.S. citizens will be required to obtain a visa. For more information on the process and estimated cost, please review the ISEP Country Handbook here.
