Join students from at least 36 different countries in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains at the University of South Carolina Upstate. Located in one of the fastest growing regions in the United States, Spartanburg has small town American charm with easy access to city life.
Students are welcomed at International Student Orientation and then will have the opportunity to join student organizations, intramural sports (including e-sports), and take part in the many social activities happening throughout the year.
USC Upstate has a student-to-faculty ratio of 18-1 with faculty who know their students by name and are invested in their success. The Center for International Studies is also available to help make your time in South Carolina something you will never forget!
HOUSING
Housing will be in The Villas which is apartment-style on-campus student housing. Each apartment houses up to four students with two bedrooms shared by two students each. For additional information, including amenities and floorplans, visit the Housing Options website.
MEALS
Students will receive the residential Platnium Plan through USC Upstate Dining Services which includes 19 meals in the university's all-you-can-eat cafeteria. Points included with the plan may be used at other dining establishments on campus. Additional information may be found by visiting the Dining Services website.
Course Description

Academics
Other Academic Conditions
Full-time undergraduate students enroll in a minimum of 12 credit hours each semester. The maximum number of credits may enroll in is 16 per semester. Some courses may require permission from the professor prior to enrollment. Courses may fill quickly and placement is not guaranteed. Some courses may have associated lab or course fees which are the responsibility of the student. Fees may be found by visiting the Undergraduate Tuition and Fees page, please refer to "Other Fees." All costs associated with the purchase of textbooks are the responsibility of the student.
Duolingo English test is accepted with a minimum score of 105.
PASSPORT: All students must have a valid passport to participate in this program. If you do not have a valid passport, we suggest you start the application process as soon as possible.
VISA: All non-U.S. citizens will be required to obtain a visa. For more information on the process and estimated cost, please review the ISEP Country Handbook here.
