Study in Morocco (in English) - ISEP Exchange
PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS
• Experience Morocco from Ifrane, a mountain city known as the “Switzerland of Morocco,” where Arab-Berber traditions, forested landscapes, and the Middle Atlas Mountains create a study abroad setting that feels both peaceful and culturally rich.
• Thrive at Al-Akhawayn University by taking English-taught courses in the ABET-accredited computer science and electrical engineering programs, courses taught in the AACSB-accredited School of Business Administration – a recognition granted to less than 5% of the world’s business schools – or courses in other fields including international studies, psychology, communication, and environmental studies.y with extensive recreation facilities, campus buses, the International Cultural Center, and hundreds of student clubs and organizations!
• Find your place in a tight-knit campus community by getting involved with the international student network or joining one or several student clubs offered in categories like sports, culture, education, entertainment, or humanitarianism.
LIVE and DINE
Connect across cultures by sharing a double room with a Moroccan student in an on-campus residence hall equipped with common spaces, laundry facilities, and access to recreational facilities, including an Olympic-sized pool. Each room has its own bathroom that you will share only with your roommate, and is fully furnished, with each student getting their own bed, desk, chair, dresser, and closet.
You will receive 21 meals per week to use at AUI’s main restaurant, as well as access to shared kitchens in the residence halls if you want to prepare simple meals. Visit Central Market, just a 15-minute walk from campus, or visit the weekend open-air market to try Moroccan staples like couscous, tagine, harira, and refreshing mint tea.
EXPERIENCE
Get involved with the International Student Network, the Student Activities Office, and student ambassadors at orientation to learn more about opportunities to get involved and make friends on campus. Find your place in the tight-knit campus community by joining organized international student meet-and-greets, campus-wide International Week celebrations, and one (or many) of the campus’s student organizations or sports clubs.
Explore Morocco through day trips organized by Al-Akhawayn University to nearby cities like Fez or Meknes. These trips are included in the program fee, making them easily accessible to all students. Outside of organized campus activities, use your free time to explore Ifrane’s weekly souk, visit nearby Berber villages, try Moroccan mint tea at a local café, or spend time outdoors at Ifrane National Park, Dayet Aoua Lake, the cedar forests, and Michlifen Ski Resort.
Special Opportunity for Student Athletes:
AUI has a robust Athletics Department that is eager to host qualified international students on their varsity teams during the Spring season for the following sports: Women’s soccer , men’s and women’s swimming, men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s volleyball, men’s and women’s tennis, and men’s and women’s track and field (mainly shorts distance and technical disciplines such as shots , discus, etc). Interested students will need to tryout for the teams and should plan to stay on the program past the exam dates in May as championship games take place in June and July.
What We Love About Al-Akhawayn University
We love that Al-Akhawayn is nestled in the Middle Atlas Mountains, giving students plenty of ways to enjoy the outdoors while experiencing a quieter side of Morocco. Students also get a meaningful opportunity to soak up Moroccan culture, especially by living on campus with a Moroccan roommate.
