As an ISEP student, you can build your own program by choosing your courses from a variety of fields. Use the notes for course searching to help you find which courses are available.

UNC Charlotte also has special academic centers such as the Center for Holocaust, Genocide and Human Rights Studies, the Center for Optoelectronics and Optical Communications, the Center for Global Public Relations. Also, the Atkins library has a rare book collection that includes many 17th-century and 18th-century English plays.

Students typically enroll in four to five classes per term which averages to 12 to 15 hours in class per week. A term runs for 15 weeks.

HOUSING

Host institution will provide students a housing stipend on their UNC Charlotte student account.

Students may apply to live anywhere on campus however there are two options that are international in design:

The Global Gateways is an international living-learning house that provides cross-cultural programming and is currently open to female students only. Students must submit a specific application after submitting the general housing application.

Witherspoon Hall provides an international living experience and is open to both male and female students.

Cooking facilities are provided in apartments only.

Calendar Year students: On-campus housing is not guaranteed from approximately May 15 - Aug 15 during the UNC Charlotte summer break. If a student does secure summer on-campus housing, they will have to pay the cost on their own as the ISEP agreement does not cover it.

*All students must pay a $100 application fee for their housing application. However, the $100 will be refunded to the student in addition to the ISEP stipend when it is applied to their account.

MEALS

ISEP students are eligible for 19 meals per week.  The only meal plan at UNC Charlotte that puts students into that category is the ‘7 Day/$ Plan’, which allows unlimited meals 7 days of the week plus an additional money in ‘declining balance’ which can be used at any campus dining venue including convenience stores.

Since there are certain days in which the university is closed and no food is available on campus, ISEP students are eligible for an additional stipend to eat off campus. See below for breakdown:

Fall semester only = Fall Break, Labor Day, Thanksgiving (5 days)
Spring semester only = MLK Day, Spring Break, Spring Recess (9 days)
Full-year exchange = Fall Break, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas (15 days)

*Calendar Year students are not eligible for ISEP housing and meal benefits over the summer break.
