In just 60 years, University of North Carolina, Charlotte has emerged from a small teacher’s college to a large urban research university. The university is now among the fastest growing of the 16 universities in the UNC System. It has an undergraduate enrollment of about 27,300 including about 5,000 master’s and doctoral candidates and an international student enrollment of nearly 1,500.

    University of North Carolina, Charlotte is located in the piedmont of North Carolina, just two hours from the mountains and three hours from the Atlantic Ocean. The university has an urban setting and is eight miles from the center of Charlotte. Charlotte is the largest city in North Carolina and has blossomed into a dynamic metropolitan area. This region is home to several Fortune 500 companies, world-class dining, entertainment and sporting events.

    UNC Charlotte has many student clubs, organizations and sporting teams as well as the opportunity to do outdoor activities such as hiking, camping and kayaking. International programs include International Coffee Hour, the Friendship & Culture Exchange, the Cultural Ambassador Program, International Festival and International Club.

    University of North Carolina, Charlotte has excellent indoor and outdoor sports facilities, a theater, a recital hall, a state of the art student union and a lovely botanical garden.
