PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
San Diego State University is an academically rich urban university that provides endless possibilities for students. Part of the 23-campus California State University system, SDSU is the third-largest university in the state with an enrollment of nearly 34,000 students. SDSU offers nearly 200 different academic degree choices, including more than 90 undergraduate majors. With award-winning professors, top-notch research facilities, and a sunny location at the gateway to Latin America and the Pacific Rim, SDSU gives students the tools to expand their knowledge and their potential.
San Diego is in the very southwest corner of the United States and has a beautiful Mediterranean climate—daytime temperatures are rarely below 60 degrees or above 80 degrees Fahrenheit (15 to 27 C). The sun is usually out and it rarely rains. SDSU's campus is within a 15-minute drive of downtown San Diego, the Pacific ocean, and the mountains, and only two hours south of Los Angeles.
Recommended fields of study for ISEP students include aerospace, astronomy, chemistry, computer science, engineering, geography, international security/conflict resolution, languages, Latin American studies, linguistics, physics, religious studies, urban studies and women’s studies.

HOUSING
ISEP students will be placed in on-campus housing in Villa Alvarado, an apartment-style community for Sophomores. Villa Alvarado offers 2-3 bedrooms with double and single-occupancy rooms. Rooms are fully furnished and include a shared bathroom. Apartments have on-site laundry, a community recreation room and live-in faculty & staff.
MEALS
A stipend will be issued within the first week of school. Campus dining facilities will be closed during the Thanksgiving weekend, winter break, and spring break periods. The food stipend is intended to cover meal expenses for the Thanksgiving and spring breaks. No meal stipend will be provided for the winter break period between semesters.
*Calendar Year students are not eligible for ISEP housing or meal benefits over the summer break.

All exchange students will be required to submit a second application via the Aztec Abroad database to SDSU and upload additional documents upon nomination.
Course Restrictions:
Enrollment in senior thesis or senior project based courses at SDSU cannot be guaranteed.
Graduate level students are not able to participate in undergraduate programs or courses at this institution.
Citizenship Considerations:
Please note that exchange students holding U.S. citizenship are not eligible to study at this institution.
Dual citizens who hold a U.S. passport and do not have permanent residence status in the U.S. can apply for ISEP Exchange at SDSU. However, dual citizens who hold a US passport and have permanent residence in the US are not eligible to apply for ISEP Exchange at SDSU. If you have any questions about this, please contact your SSO.
PASSPORT: All students must have a valid passport to participate in this program. If you do not have a valid passport, we suggest you start the application process as soon as possible.
