Founded in 1947 as an organization dedicated to supporting and developing the fine arts, today Fundação Armando Alvares Penteado has grown into one of the most important and respected academic institutions in Brazil, with over 13,000 students and 750 professors. FAAP is home to undergraduate schools of fine art, business, communications, law, economics, engineering and computer science. In addition to a high school and a graduate school, the larger Foundation also encompasses the Museum of Brazilian Art and the FAAP Theatre, making FAAP one of the most prominent institutions promoting arts and culture in the region of São Paulo.
