Université de Picardie Jules Verne is located in Amiens, the capital of Picardie, which is located about 80 miles north of Paris (50 minutes by train). Home of one of the largest 13th-century gothic cathedrals in France and among some of the most famous World War I battlefields, Amiens offers a rich cultural life and interesting quarters for students to explore. Its proximity to the Channel coast also provides recreational opportunities. It is situated in the heart of Northern Europe, halfway between Paris and Lille, two hours from Brussels, and three hours from London or Amsterdam. The city offers many cultural attractions including theaters, film and jazz festivals, museums and libraries.
Student associations organize cultural events to make it easier for everyone to get to know each other and to help foreign students adjust to their new surroundings. French language courses are offered to students during the first two weeks of their stay, which helps students improve their French and adjust to the French-speaking educational system.
International students have many opportunities to participate in extra-curricular activities in different associations and sports club. The University has good American football and ice hockey teams that international students can join. Two cultural excursions in the region are offered by the international office during the year. The university also offers a buddy program that matches international students with French students. This offers students a great opportunity to immerse themselves in local French culture and customs!
