Founded in 1947 as an organization dedicated to supporting and developing the fine arts, today Fundação Armando Alvares Penteado has grown into one of the most important and respected academic institutions in Brazil, with over 13,000 students and 750 professors. FAAP is home to undergraduate schools of fine art, business, communications, law, economics, engineering and computer science. In addition to a high school and a graduate school, the larger Foundation also encompasses the Museum of Brazilian Art and the FAAP Theatre, making FAAP one of the most prominent institutions promoting arts and culture in the region of São Paulo.   

Fundação Armando Alvares Penteado distinguishes itself in its commitment to student development and is considered an institution that prepares future leaders of the country in the spheres of business, public service, culture and art. Its main mission is to foment both academic and artistic development, growing students into well-rounded individuals.     As the fourth largest city in the world and the largest city in the Southern Hemisphere, São Paulo is the cultural and financial capital of Brazil, and one of the top cities for study abroad in Latin America (QS Best Student Cities Ranking). With world-renowned nightlife, excellent cuisine, a lively fashion scene, 223 cinemas, 92 theatres, 11 cultural centers, 70 museums and dozens of historic buildings, there is always something new to explore in this metropolis of 21 million people. São Paulo is also a melting pot of different cultures, with large Arab, Italian, Japanese and Jewish communities. 

    FAAP is located in the traditional neighborhood of Higienópolis, a largely residential area in a central part of the city. Higienópolis is best known for its prominent cultural institutions, including the Museum of Brazilian Art and the FAAP Theatre. 

ISEP STUDENT ADVISOR Emily Greenblatt | egreenblatt@isep.org Emily joined the ISEP team in July 2019 after working at an ISEP Member Institution as an international student recruiter. She holds a master's degree in international education management from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies, and has lived abroad as a student, volunteer, and nanny. Emily's love for intercultural learning and itch for adventure has taken her to twenty-eight countries across the globe. Emily is an Oregon native, but resides in Flagstaff, Arizona. In her spare time, you can find her cooking, FaceTiming her nieces in Oregon, or climbing rocks and exploring northern Arizona! Emily is thrilled to engage with students and member institutions to facilitate meaningful experiences abroad and lasting cross-cultural connections.
