Anglia Ruskin’s story starts in 1858, when the art critic, patron and philanthropist John Ruskin opened Cambridge School of Art. The art school grew to become Anglia Ruskin University, our name since 2005, and it’s still at the heart of our modern-day campus in Cambridge.

Offering a large variety of inspiring subjects from the Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, to Life Sciences and Engineering, from Business and Law, to Education and Social Care, there is guaranteed to be something for you.
Our vibrant campuses in Cambridge and Chelmsford will soon become your home as you spend your days in an academically challenging environment, all while easily exploring the rest of the UK or further afield. While on campus you will be taught in state of the art facilities by world-leading academics, and outside the classroom, you can participate in over 100 different clubs and societies, as well other activities like group trips or special events. Beyond the campus, both Cambridge and Chelmsford are at your doorstep and full of exciting opportunities, and maybe the odd adventure as well, including shopping, cinemas, restaurants, museums, sports facilities, music venues, and of course pubs and clubs if that is what you are seeking. With mainline rail services just steps away, you can be in London in under an hour, or decide to explore the living history on offer throughout the rest of the UK.
