Arkansas State University is located in Jonesboro, Arkansas’ fastest-growing city, with a population of over 70,000. ASU holds nearly every convenience of a big city and every comfort of a small town. Jonesboro is the fifth largest city in Arkansas and the regional center for manufacturing, agriculture, medicine, education, and trade. The cost of living is 27% lower than the U.S. average. Jonesboro is only one hour away by car from Memphis and its international airport. Little Rock, St. Louis, Nashville, Huntsville, and Jackson are within easy driving distances.
Over 200 student organizations are available to help students develop beyond the classroom in a wide variety of interests. The new student union is considered one of the top student centers in the U.S., including stores, food courts, a movie theater, and fitness facilities. The state-of-the-art student recreation center features a multipurpose gymnasium for basketball and volleyball, indoor walking and running tracks, weight training and fitness rooms, dance studios, and multipurpose activity courts. The intramural program provides opportunities for students, faculty, and staff to participate in more than 30 structured activities for men and women, along with a number of co-ed recreational events. Arkansas State University competes in NCAA Division I, the highest level of competition for universities in the U.S. Students enjoy easy access to the student health center and the career advising services on campus.
