INSA Lyon was founded in 1957 to train highly qualified engineers, support continuing education, and conduct research and testing. The oldest and largest school making up the INSA group, the university is consistently rated the top engineering school in France.
INSA Lyon focuses on engineering and technology, with a strong research emphasis for students as well as faculty. The university is known as the scientific and technological capital of France, with 22 research labs, more than 600 researchers and 650 PhD students.
In keeping with the university's focus on research, for-credit research and development projects in INSA Lyon's research labs are open to ISEP students at the undergraduate and graduate level and are offered across all degree fields and in both English and French. While the university's language of instruction is French, courses in English are offered across almost all degree fields.
