The college is within a few miles of downtown Roanoke, a metropolitan area of 250,000 people, and the arts and culture hub of southwest Virginia. Roanoke College has an active social life, with student activities including bands, films, comedy clubs, game nights, and other events on campus. The free college shuttle takes students to nearby downtown Roanoke, where there are many restaurants and a lively arts and music scene.
