Building on an innovative 30-year history, California State University, San Marcos is a forward-focused institution, dedicated to preparing future leaders, building great communities and solving critical issues. Located on a 304-acre hillside overlooking the city of San Marcos, the University is just a short distance from some of Southern California’s best beaches and an hour from the U.S.-Mexico border. CSUSM enrollment is over 13,000 and the university is fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. 

California State University is located in northern San Diego County and offers beautiful beaches, an hour drive to the mountains and desert, a downtown nightlife, world-class shopping and more all within a short trip from campus.

    Located just 20 minutes from the beach, 35 minutes from downtown San Diego and one and a half hours to Los Angeles, CSU San Marcos offers an ideal climate for outdoor and cultural activities. Nearby points of interest include the world-famous San Diego Zoo Safari Park, Legoland, California Surf Museum and California Center for the Arts.

    International students have many opportunities to participate in extracurricular activities as there are more than 100 student organizations available, such as theatre, intramural athletics, choir and academic clubs. The campus also has a fully equipped gym at the Clark Field House along with off-campus activities offered through campus recreation.

    The Global Partnership Program brings together international and American students for cultural exchange, social activities and travel. Through a dedicated Facebook page, students can connect and provide pre-arrival support, the campus hosts international coffee hours, international week activities and the Spring International Fair. ISEP Direct students will also be able to participate in the mentor program and have their own student mentor.
