Founded in 1890, Millsaps is a private, four-year selective liberal arts college affiliated with the United Methodist Church. The College enrolls about 1,000 students and has a student-to-faculty ratio of 9:1, with an average class size of 14. Over 80% of students live on campus. Outstanding facilities at Millsaps include the $17 million Maurice H. Hall Activities Center with its state-of-the-art exercise equipment, game courts, and pool. The Gertrude C. Ford Academic Complex boasts a Recital Hall, numerous music rooms, and the Lewis Art Gallery, displaying work by students and artists from around the world. Three new upscale residence halls have opened on the south side of campus, complete with expansive outdoor porches, private bedrooms, ultra-modern facilities, and inviting common areas.
Long recognized as a leader in pre-medical education, Millsaps has a medical school acceptance rate twice that of the national average. Six months after graduating, over 90% of students are employed or in graduate school.

Millsaps is located on 100 beautifully landscaped acres in the heart of Jackson, the capital of Mississippi — a progressive Southern metropolitan city with a population of nearly half a million people. The campus is bordered to the south by downtown Jackson, which includes major hospital facilities, the state capitol building, and the business hub of the state; to the east by the historic Belhaven neighborhood, with a rich cultural and literary history and the home of Eudora Welty; to the north by the University of Mississippi Medical Center and the exciting Fondren neighborhood, with its wonderful selection of restaurants and stores; and to the west by the Midtown neighborhood, where Millsaps is working closely with residents to improve the economic opportunities and growth of the area. Jackson offers many cultural attractions, such as the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra, New Stage Theater, the Eudora Welty House, Ballet Mississippi, the Mississippi Opera Association, the Mississippi Braves minor league baseball team, and a variety of museums. The capital is only a three-hour drive from New Orleans, Louisiana, and its historic French Quarter, from the Mississippi Delta, the birthplace of the blues, and the shopping, dining, and entertainment venues of Memphis, Tennessee.
Millsaps pours energy, ideas, and resources into providing students with a full slate of fun options. Millsaps has a wide array of student-led organizations, including the Millsaps International Buddy System, a program that connects volunteer upper-level students from Millsaps with international students to welcome them to Millsaps. MIBS provides services such as room preparation, transportation around Jackson, tours of Millsaps and Jackson, and additional activities. The goal of MIBS is to help international students transition to life on campus and in the Jackson community. There are also a number of clubs, including everything from arts to culture to politics.
