Indiana State University enrolls approximately 13,500 undergraduate and graduate students from all over the United States and from approximately 75 countries. The international student enrollment is nearly 500 students, about six percent of the total student population. About 55 percent of students live on campus.

    Terre Haute is in the top 20 percent of the nation's safest cities with populations over 100,000 and enjoys a low cost of living. The Wabash Valley is rich in American culture and heritage, with its foundation in agriculture, technology and service industries. The city's cultural life benefits from the presence of four institutions of higher education. ISU's programs include the University's Convocation Series, the Summer Stage theater productions, the Turman Art Gallery Exhibits, the Afro-American Cultural Center's Ebony Majestic Choir performances, and state, regional and national conferences.

    On-campus facilities include buildings for the performing arts, a language laboratory, a remote sensing laboratory, an art gallery, and business, education, and technology center. Excellent athletic facilities are also available in a newly-built student recreation center complete with a pool and state-of the art exercise equipment.
