Universidad Complutense de Madrid (UCM) is the largest universities in Spain and one of the oldest. its origin dates back to the late 13th Century.

UCM has two campuses in Madrid: Moncloa and Somosaguas filled with vast green spaces. There are easy connections to UCM from Madrid Barajas Airport and you will find that Madrid's extensive public transport system is convenient and easy to use.

The main campus is located in the downtown, Ciudad Universitaria, and was conceived as an integrated campus where education, science and culture would merge harmoniously with each other. The Campus Moncloa project endeavours to take the lead in responding to the challenges of the 21st century, namely knowledge and sustainable development

Somosaguas Campus is located in the residential area of Somosaguas, in the western outskirts of Madrid, where teaching and administrative buildings are surrounded by green open spaces.

With the largest university library in the country and 13 museums of its own, every year the university is home to over 71,000 students – more than 7,000 from abroad.

Complutense has an extensive range of indoor and outdoor sports facilities (260,000 m2) and provides a wide variety of cultural life and activities, like its renowned Summer School in San Lorenzo de El Escorial, a world heritage site.

The University’s Alumni include many famous historians, scientifics, philosophers, writers and Prime Ministers.

While the campus accommodates a city-sized student population, the setting is very pleasant with broad, attractive open spaces that separate classrooms and residence halls. Buses and two subway lines connect the campuses with downtown Madrid.

UCM is located in Madrid, Europe's highest capital city at 646 meters above sea level. The main north-south artery, Paseo de la Castellana connects the city's two main train stations, Chamartin and Atocha. The oldest quarters of the city are squeezed in between Paseo del Prado (where you'll find the city's great art galleries) and the Palacio Real. The barrio southeast of Puerta del Sol lead to the working-class district of Lavapies, filled with restaurants, bars and cafes.

Students can participate in several clubs, including the Erasmus student network's chapter at UCM. The Erasmus student network organizes low-cost excursions throughout Spain, in addition to activities in Madrid. Students can also participate in a number of cultural activities and sports through the university.
