Tecnológico de Monterrey is ranked as one of the top 200 universities in the in the world, and the top private university in Mexico. Tecnológico de Monterrey was also ranked in 2018 by the Princeton Review as a top 10 university for undergraduate entrepreneurship. A non-profit private university founded in 1943 in Monterrey, Mexico, Tec has since grown its national presence to 31 campuses across 25 Mexican cities, with satellite offices in Asia, Canada, Europe, the U.S. and Latin America.
The flagship Monterrey campus includes an experimental agricultural station, athletic facilities, a theater, two computer centers and 50 laboratories. The campus also hosts many cultural events, sporting activities and symposiums throughout the semester.

The flagship campus of Tecnológico de Monterrey is located in Monterrey, the state capital of Nuevo León. A city of 4.5 million inhabitants, Monterrey lies in a valley surrounded by majestic mountains about 250 kilometers south of the border with Texas and 1,000 kilometers north of Mexico City. Monterrey is Mexico's third largest city and one of the nation's most important industrial, financial and business centers. The city boasts a warm, dry climate and lies in a valley surrounded by stunning mountain ranges, with the Sierra Madre Oriental mountains recognized as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Monterrey has also been ranked among the 100 best student cities in the world!
Monterrey is often considered the most ‘Americanized’ city in Mexico, combining a modern outlook with history and traditional culture. Monterrey is home to a thriving artistic community, various museums, theaters, concert halls, symphony orchestra, ballet company and prominent sports teams. The barrio antiguo ("old quarter") with its many restaurants, pubs, bars, discotheques and vibrant nightlife, is a favorite student hangout on the weekends.
Tecnológico de Monterrey has modern sports facilities including a gym, pool and exercise classes. Students can also participate in team sports. There are also over 200 student organizations at Tec de Monterrey through the student development department.
The international programs office organizes trips and excursions during the semester to other cities including places like Guanajuato, Zacatecas, Merida and Playa del Carmen. Trips have cost extra and vary depending on destination. Local field trips to museums, natural parks and more, are also offered to students during the semester for an additional cost.
