Historically a black college, Tennessee State University now has a diverse student body that is 59 percent black, 29 percent white, and 12 percent other races. About 250 foreign students attend, with the largest numbers coming from Nigeria and Iran. Total enrollment is about 9,000, including 1,900 at the graduate level. Thirty percent of the students live on campus. Tennessee State has an athletic complex, three auditoriums for the performing arts and a student union building.

  • Main Campus

    Nashville, Tennessee, United States Campus Website

    TSU has two campuses in Nashville, Tennessee. The main campus, a 10-minute drive from downtown Nashville, has 34 buildings on a 470-acre site bounded by the Cumberland River. The smaller downtown campus is near the state capitol building and is convenient for shopping. Nashville has a thriving cultural life and is a business and governmental center. The live performance and recording of country music are major industries in this city.
