UNO is a metropolitan university that boasts a large, diverse international campus community. Nearly 1,700 international students come to UNO each year, representing more than 120 countries. Through weekly organized activities – everything from amateur sports to board games to picnics in the nearby park – U.S. and international students interact, share cultural insights, and explore the entire world right on UNO’s campus. Engaging the broader community is important, so international students frequently learn and make friends while serving local nonprofits or visiting area businesses.

The downtown area is just 6 kilometers from campus, where a convention center, baseball stadium and performance hall draw world-class events. The climate is temperate with four distinct seasons: snow in the winter, sun in the summer, and a perfect spring and fall.
UNO Shuttles connect Dodge and Scott Campuses (Building and Maps Information), eliminating the need to drive back and forth and look for parking. This is a free service. ISEP inbound exchange students must live in University Village, Dodge campus and might have classes on both campuses. During fall/spring semesters, the shuttles operate as Express (Point-to-Point) Routes. It takes about 10 minutes to commute from one campus to the other with the free shuttle. In summer months, the shuttles operate on one circulating route that stops at multiple locations.
International students have many opportunities to get involved on UNO's campus. Join one of the student organizations, volunteer in the community or join your friends on trips to nearby attractions, including Omaha’s world-class zoo, the College World Series of baseball, Kansas City’s jazz district and small-town Main Street tours. Always keep up on the UNO Events.
Some student-run organizations plan social events and other activities related to UNO's global mission. For more information about these and many more student organizations at UNO, check out the Student Organization website.
