  Shawnee State University is located in the small town of Portsmouth, Ohio among the hills of southeast Ohio. SSU sits along the Ohio River and welcomes a four season weather system. Portsmouth has mild to hot summers and cold winters, with very comfortable temperatures in the spring and fall seasons. The town of Portsmouth, Ohio is a 1.5-hour drive to the state capital city of Columbus as well as the popular city of Cincinnati. In addition, SSU is a 45-minute drive to Huntington, W.Va. Portsmouth, Ohio is known for its small town feel and many historical sites as well as its local eateries and coffee shops.

  ISEP Exchange students at Shawnee State will have the opportunity to join many different activities and clubs sponsored by the university.
