Why Choose TU?

Towson University is the second largest university in the state of Maryland, USA, located just eight miles north of the heart of Baltimore city. Established in 1866 and home to over 400 international students from 80+ counties, Towson is a nationally recognized leader in inclusive excellence and offers excellent programs in business and economics, communications, computer and information sciences, education, fine arts, graduate studies and research, health professions, liberal arts, and science and mathematics.

Exchange students who study at Towson University benefit by experiencing first-hand the life of a full-time student in the U.S. They also have access to all other facets of campus life - lectures, conferences, arts and theatre events, intramural sports and student organizations.

The TU Study Abroad & Away Office and International Student and Scholar Office staff work closely with exchange students, international coordinators, and other exchange program representatives to ensure a positive experience for students. The staff facilitates on-campus housing placement, course registration, and an understanding of campus life in the United States. It is our goal to make your exchange experience at Towson University both an academic and personal success.

Location

TU is located in Towson, Maryland, a suburb of Baltimore in the heart of the mid-Atlantic region. Students can walk from campus to Towson, a college town with tree-lined residential streets, restaurants, bookstores, movies, and shopping, which allows them to get involved in the community.

Baltimore, affectionately known as Charm City, played a significant role in the American Revolution and today offers an interesting mix of historic character and modern city life. Students enjoy access to Baltimore's professional sports teams in the NFL and MLB, waterfront restaurants and shopping, art galleries, theatre performances, and the National Aquarium.

TU is also about an hour north of Washington, D.C., two hours south of Philadelphia, and three hours south of New York City. The proximity to big cities provides a wealth of cultural and educational resources and expands the opportunities for jobs, internships, and research.
