The Summer Service Learning Program (SSLP) brings Chinese and American undergraduates together to combat poverty issues in rural China. U.S. participants will attend a week long orientation program at Tsinghua University in Beijing to meet their Chinese partners, learn about Chinese culture and poverty alleviation issues, and develop plans to implement their service projects. Participants will then travel to their sites in rural areas throughout China where they will reside for two to three weeks. Each group will consist of approximately 1-2 U.S. students and 8 Chinese students. All Chinese participants speak English, and Chinese knowledge is not a requirement for U.S. student participation.
