East Carolina University's east campus is adjacent to downtown Greenville, the business, medical and educational hub of eastern North Carolina. The medical campus is adjacent to Pitt County Memorial Hospital in west Greenville. The small city of more than 80,000 is within easy driving distance of coastal and beach resorts and the Outer Banks, as well as Richmond, Virginia and Washington, D.C.
There are approximately 280 registered student organizations at ECU including academic, social and club sports. ECU is a NCAA Division 1-A member university in all sports.
Concerts, plays, and movies are presented in the Wright Auditorium, Hendrix Theatre, McGinnis Theatre and A.J. Fletcher Recital Hall. Other facilities include a football stadium, basketball coliseum, baseball and softball fields, track, soccer field, natatorium, student recreation center and a recreational sports complex.
