St. Mary’s College of Maryland is one of only two officially designed public honors colleges in the entire United States. SMCM enrolls approximately 1,800 students a year and has one of the lowest faculty-to-student ratios at 10:1. It is also ranked in the top 10 of all public liberal arts colleges in the nation. It has a high residency rate with over 85 percent of its students living on campus. Over 50 percent of the students complete an international experience at some point during their academic career.

St. Mary’s College is located on a 361-acre waterfront campus adjacent to historic St. Mary’s City, MD, which was founded in 1634 and is the fourth oldest permanent English settlement in North America. It is also 70 miles southeast of Washington, D.C. and 95 miles south of Baltimore near the confluence of the Potomac River and the Chesapeake Bay.
St. Mary's has over 100 student-run clubs, including service, environmental, and sport clubs. Getting involved is a sure way to meet new people and become an integral part of our college community. This includes an International Club which includes international students and students interested in all things international as well as clubs related to culture such as Latinos Unidos, etc.
