One of nine Massachusetts State Universities, the University was founded in 1839 by Horace Mann, a well-known education reformer, abolitionist and political leader who was the first Secretary of the State Board of Education in Massachusetts. Framingham State University enrolls about 4,600 full-time students and 1,900 graduate students. More than half of undergraduate students live on-campus in seven undergraduate residence halls.

As a public university, Framingham State prides itself on its quality academic programs, affordability and commitment to access for all qualified students. Student success is central to the mission of the University. Many options are available for student support, including programs to help freshmen transition to the University. The University also has a well-developed honors program for exceptional students.

The University is situated on a beautiful, 50 acre, traditional New England campus in Framingham, the largest town in Massachusetts. Whether you choose to participate in an internship, take a part-time job, or attend a concert or visit a museum, the location provides an exciting environment with countless opportunities.   International students have many opportunities to participate in extracurricular activities as there are more than 50 student organizations available, such as theatre, intramural athletics, music and academic clubs.
