The University of Canberra is a highly regarded regional university located in Australia’s capital city. With a current enrollment of approximately 13,000 students, UC is a vibrant campus, home to a close-knit community of local, interstate and international students.

Lectures are held in purpose-designed, modern lecture theatres fully equipped with multimedia facilities. For each lecture, students attend a tutorial (small, interactive study group supervised by a tutor) where they discuss the lecture and receive personal assistance from teaching staff.

Student welfare is a priority at UC, with facilities in place to assist students both academically and personally. The Students Association also provides a wide range of social activities, clubs and societies to help students’ involvement in campus life. Study abroad students have a dedicated student advisor in the International Office.

The university campus is beautifully situated between the heart of the nation’s capital and the majestic Australian bush land's native wildlife. Students can easily walk to the movie theater, bowling alley, restaurants, bars, fresh food markets, supermarkets and a major shopping mall or take a 15-minute bus ride to Canberra's city center (departing every five minutes). The city's lively nightlife of pubs, clubs and live music rubs shoulders with national and local arts, culture and politics, and the city comes to life each year during its numerous festivals. Some of Australia's most important political and historical buildings and tourist attractions are located in Canberra. Bush land reserves, lakeshore and cycling and jogging trails are just moments away from the university and kangaroos are regularly seen on campus.

The Study Abroad and Exchange Office organizes special trips for study abroad and exchange students throughout the semester in order to familiarize international students with Canberra and the surrounding regions. Special trips may include learning how to surf, beach vacations, Sydney excursions and a visit to the Blue Mountains. These weekend adventures provide opportunities to pet kangaroos and cuddly koalas, bond with other students and learn the Australian way of life.

UC holds various events throughout the semester, which include music festivals and concerts, live music, comedy shows and themed social events, including Residents (Ressies) Ball and on campus sports. Students are also able to purchase cheap tickets to watch Australian football and support the University of Canberra Brumby’s rugby team.
