The campus is located on 140 acres in southeastern North Carolina. It is a one-and-a-half-hour drive from the Atlantic Ocean and 40 minutes south of Fayetteville, a city of 85,000 people. The university is also near Interstate 95 and U.S. Highway 74, major north-south and east-west arteries.

International students can join over 80 campus clubs and organizations ranging from academic and professional groups to fraternities and sororities. You can become part of the student-run television station, participate in community service projects, help plan campus events, or even start something new. The  Office of Global Engagement brings international and American students together for cultural events, social activities, and travel. Annual OGE events include Halloween pumpkin carvings, holiday-themed dinners, beach trips, shopping excursions, cultural trips to museums, Carowinds Theme Park, and trips to New York City, New Orleans, Washington, D.C, Charleston, or Asheville. Additional fee for excursions may apply.

In addition, international students are encouraged to share information about their native culture through classroom presentations, community outreach, or by participating in annual culture event programs (iWorld/Taste of Culture or International Education Week). And when you're not in charge of something yourself, you can enjoy UNCP's Distinguished Speaker Series, free films, or a show at the Givens Performing Arts Center right on campus.
