Hanyang was the first engineering college in Korea, and the largest in the nation. Hanyang has about 37,000 students in 23 colleges and 16 graduate schools. It was ranked 150 in the 2019 QS World University Rankings and 25 in Asia. There are about 6,000 international students on campus annually through degree programs, language programs, exchange programs and the summer school program. Hanyang University has many notable alumni especially in the manufacturing industry and the film industry.

    International students have many opportunities to participate in extracurricular activities connecting international and local students for cultural exchanges, social activities and travel. The office of international cooperation also has a program called 'HY-BUDDY' that matches buddies to each individual international student to help them better adapt to Korea.
