Westminster University (Utah)
Founded in 1875, Westminster University is a private, comprehensive, independent liberal arts university with impassioned teaching, active learning and cutting-edge professional programs. Westminster’s unique environment for learning prepares students for success through active and engaged learning, real world experiences and a vibrant campus community. Of the 1,200 students enrolled, approximately 300 are graduate students and 900 are undergraduates. More than 90% of recent alumni report that they were either employed or attending graduate or professional school within five months of graduation.
Located in the Sugar House neighborhood of Salt Lake City, the Westminster campus is near shops, restaurants and parks. Ten major ski and snowboard resorts are within an hour’s drive, while sixteen national parks, monuments and recreational areas are within a day’s drive. Backpacking, mountain biking, kayaking, mountain climbing and rafting are all also within easy reach. Cultural activities abound in Salt Lake City, including a world-renowned choir, the distinguished Utah Symphony and Opera, many dance companies and professional theater groups. The outdoor recreation program at Westminster University provides free and low-cost opportunities for skiing, snowboarding, hiking, rock climbing, kayaking and more. The annual campus calendar is filled with concerts, plays, guest speakers, film series, lectures, art exhibits, and intercollegiate and intramural athletic events. In addition, there are more than 50 student clubs on campus. The Office for Global Engagement promotes the interests and strengths of international students through the international fest and excursions to local cultural events, parks, and recreation areas. Westminster also offers a concierge service, which provides discounts on everything from lift tickets for skiing and snowboarding, to theater and movie tickets, to seats for Utah Jazz professional basketball games.

Westminster provides a new student mentoring program that pairs new international students with current international or U.S. students. Mentors plan social activities and are there to support students as they transition to U.S. culture.
