PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS

• Internationally renowned and globally connected, Hanyang University is one of the top-ranked universities in Seoul. Self-contained within Seoul, the close-knit campus offers plenty of amenities, festivals, excursions, and a buddy program to help you quickly feel included in the friendly and academically-focused campus culture.

• When you are ready to venture off campus, explore Seoul on your terms—Hanyang is located on Seoul’s line 2 subway, which connects the whole city, and makes it easy to take quick outings or spend your day seeing the city. Hanyang is just one stop away from Seongsu-dong, a favorite area for locals and considered the “Brooklyn of Seoul,” with cool pop-up shops, trendy bakeries, and great street food.

• Hanyang offers strong academic options in English in engineering, business, science, architectural design, social sciences, and Korean studies. An ideal fit for STEM majors, Hanyang is also a comprehensive, research institution where students from most majors can find compelling and major-oriented coursework.

• Near campus, wander through Seoul Forest, a large urban park with art installations and butterfly garden, or bike along the Han River, where you can picnic like the locals do.

LIFE ABROAD

Hanyang’s expansive campus is the perfect base to experience Seoul. You’ll find walking trails, K-Pop performances in the university’s amphitheater, study spaces, and plenty of dining options. From campus, hop on the Line 2 Subway, which provides seamless access to Seoul, known for its unique blend of technology, nature, ancient history, and modern culture. No matter your interests, you’ll find it in Seoul: urban hikes, world-class shopping, an incredible food scene, K-Pop dance classes, unbeatable nightlife, or a quiet, cozy cafe.

LIVE

Live in a modern, on-campus residence hall in a double room with a private bathroom, and shared community spaces, laundry facilities, gym, and study spaces in the building.

DINE

Choose from a variety of on-campus dining options, including Korean snack foods, cafes, and a full cafeteria. For those with special dietary needs, Hanyang University offers both a vegan/plant-based survival guide, and a non-spicy food guide. Venture beyond campus to discover all that Korean cuisine has to offer, from Korean BBQ and ramyeon to savory pancakes, bibimbap, kimchi, and more. Experience Seoul’s vibrant street food culture with affordable treats like tteok-bokki, bungeo-ppang, and Korean corndogs. Students must bring their own funds for meals and budget accordingly.

EXPERIENCE

Join the Hanyang Global Student Union and connect with local and international students through field trips and language classes. Participate in the HOWdy program to engage with Korean culture by taking part in local excursions and traditional craft-making activities. In May and November, take advantage of a guided trip to Everland, Korea’s largest amusement park, where you can enjoy a water park, a zoo, and one of the world’s longest wooden roller coasters.

EXPLORE

Use the Seoul Metropolitan Subway system to navigate the city efficiently. HYU is conveniently located on Line 2, which loops around the city. Visit cultural hotspots like Dongdaemun Market—the largest wholesale and retail shopping district (open 24/7), Bukchon Hanok Village—a traditional Korean neighborhood with buildings from the Joseon Dynasty, and numerous festivals that celebrate Korea’s rich heritage. Venture beyond Seoul to Eurwangni Beach, nearby cities Busan and Daegu, or the scenic Jeju-do Island, all accessible by bus or train. Consider a quick, affordable flight to nearby countries like Japan, Thailand, or the Philippines for even more adventures.

THRIVE

Access comprehensive support throughout your semester in Seoul. Visit the Student Health Care Center, sign up for 1:1 Korean tutoring sessions, and get involved with Hanyang One World—an organization that assists foreign students in adapting to life in Korea and advocates for the rights of international students. Stay active with access to two on-campus gyms and a swimming pool, ensuring you maintain a healthy and balanced lifestyle.
