Located in Ghana’s capital city, Accra, The University of Ghana is in the heart of the fastest growing city in Africa. As you fly over, Ghana appears to be a bundle of green, bordered by golden beaches but once you step off the plane you will immediately feel its cultural richness and variety. The country’s darker history as the former core of West Africa’s slave trade offers unique moments of reflection and hopeful signs of progress.

The ISEP Global Engagement Program at the University of Ghana enables students to extend their ISEP experience beyond the classroom through ISEP-facilitated community engagement opportunities. If you are interested in learning about complex issues facing developing nations while enjoying a rich cultural, historical and social experience, this program is for you.

The GEP program also offers benefits above and beyond a typical ISEP program including facilitated volunteering, independent studies and research projects, internship opportunities, an on-site resident director, excursions and a Twi language course.

Download the ISEP GEP Volunteer Site Guide to learn more about some of the specific service-learning opportunities on the program!
