The University of Fribourg offers a wide range of study programmes organised in 6 faculties, each of which offers bachelor's, master's and doctoral programmes in many different fields of study.
The Faculty of Humanities is the largest and most diversified in Fribourg, covering a varied range of fields of study, from philosophy to historical sciences, from special education to languages and literatures, from educational sciences to psychology. The main fields of study of the Faculty of Management, Economics and Social Sciences are Business Administration, Political Economics, Information Management and Media and Communication Sciences. The Faculty of Science and Medicine comprises the natural sciences and medicine. For more than 250 years, the Faculty of Law in Fribourg has set the standard. It offers in-depth analysis of international and European law. The Faculty of Theology is the largest theological faculty in Switzerland. Theological studies can be combined with courses offered by other faculties. The new Faculty of Education will train primary, secondary and high school teachers, special education teachers, social education workers and speech therapists.
Fribourg is the only bilingual (French-German) university in Switzerland; classes are taught in French or German. Unifr offers courses taught in English in all faculties, but the number of courses varies from faculty to faculty. The majority of courses taught in English are at Master's level. The Faculty of Science and Medicine and the Faculty of Management, Economics and Social Sciences also offer Masters programmes taught entirely in English.
SCHOLARSHIP
This program qualifies for the ISEP French and German Language Annette Kade Fund Scholarship. The scholarship awards $500 - $1,500 USD to students who are from a U.S. institution and studying French or German language in Austria, France, Germany, Reunion Island, or Switzerland. Learn more here!
