LIFE ABROAD

Study in one of the world’s top tourist destinations, bright and bustling Bangkok! With golden temples, zooming traffic, and colorful tuk-tuks, Bangkok overwhelms and delights! Fragrant aromas of jasmine, complex Thai spices, and fresh mango sticky rice are abundant in this foodie’s paradise. Even street vendors here earn Michelin stars! Enjoy the warm weather and juxtaposition of modern skyscrapers and ancient architecture. The centrally-located Tra Prachan campus is right downtown in the historic heart of the city, directly across the street from the Grand Palace.

LIVE

At the Tra Prachan campus, you’ll live in off-campus apartments. Integrate into life in Bangkok at your own comfort level. Thammasat provides recommended apartment options, but you choose from pre-arranged options based on your location and lifestyle preferences. Single and double rooms are available. Most apartments are located 20 to 30 minutes away from campus. See current recommended options here: http://oia.tu.ac.th/images/InterStudents/Housing-Information/Apartments-TPC2022_4.pdf. Please note, ISEP Direct pay rent directly to the apartment owner. The approximate cost is $1,400 USD per semester.

DINE

Bangkok is known for its affordable and delicious street food, with fresh and fragrant flavors, rich tantalizing sauces, and complex spice blends. Enjoy fresh seafood, fusion food, and vegetarian meals. Although your apartment will have a kitchen space, and mini marts and markets make it easy to buy groceries, most Bangkok residents eat out for most of their meals. Thammasat has “canteens” that serve fresh and affordable food, too. Expect to spend about $900 USD a semester on food. Learn more about Thai cuisine and the best places to try it here: https://www.eatingthaifood.com/.

EXPERIENCE

Head to the International Lounge on campus to learn about upcoming events and activities or meet up with a friend. Thammasat’s International Office regularly hosts cultural activities, including music and dancing classes, and organizes a Buddy Program and welcome events. To learn even more about Thai culture, consider enrolling in a for-credit Thai studies class in Thai language, cuisine, or politics. In Bangkok, be sure to explore the giant markets, like the Chatuchak Weekend Market, one of the largest markets in the world. Although it’s easy to travel outside of Thailand, mark your calendars for Thailand’s colorful festivals, like Songkran (April), Chinese New Year (February), the Festival of Lights (November), and the Lantern Festival (November).

EXPLORE

One of the best parts of studying in Bangkok is exploring the rest of Thailand and Southeast Asia! Train and bus tickets are very affordable, and flights are available to destinations like Phuket, Ho Chi Minh City, and Kuala Lumpur for $100 USD or less. Within Thailand, be sure to check out the beautiful beaches (the nearest one is about 2 hours away), historical sites, floating markets, waterfalls, and communities like Koh Kret.

THRIVE

Thammasat University offers a Counseling Center, Fitness Center, and Health Clinics to keep you mentally and physically well.

What We Love About Bangkok

Bangkok is rich in history and culture, and immigrant populations infuse their own flavors, literally and figuratively, into the community.

Other Academic Conditions

Classes are either in the form of seminars or lectures. Lecture classes are very large, while seminars are intimate and encourage class participation. Students are required to attend classes regularly in order to pass their courses. The typical course load is three to six courses per semester, which equates to 15 to 17 hours of class per week. Each semester runs approximately 16 weeks long.

At Thammasat, you'll enroll in a specific program and take at least three courses within that program. You can take up to two more electives from any other program on your campus, but all your classes must be at the campus you are enrolled in.

To find courses from the current academic year you can visit this page. Thammasat offers these courses to degree-seeking students, so most should be offered regularly.  Click here to find more information on previous Fall and Spring courses taught at specifically at the Thammasat Business School for the Business Administration (BBA) undergraduate program and the GEMBA graduate program

Note that it is not possible to take courses on both the Tha Prachan and Rangsit campus. Students must choose one.
