Course Description
The University of Waikato is an innovative and student-focused university that offers small class sizes with a focus on hands-on learning. Students can choose from courses in any of their seven schools (faculties), with top-ranked programs in Business (their Business School ranked one of the best in the world with the “triple crown” of accreditations: AACSB, EQUIS and AAMBA), Computer Science, Screen and Media studies and Linguistics. Other unique areas of focus include: Architecture and Urban Planning, Law, Maori and Indigenous Studies, and Public Health. Academics
Other Academic Conditions
Programs are called “qualifications” in New Zealand and a program area of focus is called a “specialization”. Classes are called both “courses” and “papers”. Most papers (classes) are worth 15 points (credits) per semester. Students can expect to spend 10 hours per week attending lectures and required discussions, completing readings and assignments.
University of Waikato follows the Southern Hemisphere calendar. When searching for courses, be sure to search for courses using the correct parameters: A Trimester is February to June; B Trimester is July to November.
If you are considering studying for a full-year in New Zealand, you should consider starting your program at the beginning of UWaikato’s academic year in February.
