Enjoy life in the oldest German city and grow academically at a modern campus university. Improve your German skills not only in daily life but in superb German as a foreign language courses offered by the Language Center. Make new friends not only in the classroom but while participating in the extracurricular activities (a buddy program, language tandems, encounters with Trier locals, excursions) offered by the student-run International Center. Have a truly European experience as Trier is located in the heart of Europe close to the borders of Luxemburg, France and Belgium.

Social sciences and languages are predominant at Trier, with particularly strong offerings in business administration, economics, geography and geosciences, history, languages, linguistics, applied mathematics, political science, law and psychology. Interdisciplinary focal points of teaching and research are European studies, East Asian studies, environmental studies, information and communication, women and gender studies, and public health.

Course Description

As an ISEP student, you can build your own program by choosing your courses from a variety of fields. Use the notes for course searching to help you find which courses are available. The searchable course catalog can be found here. To navigate select “English” or “German” on the bottom right of the page. Then click “show all possible search criteria”. Then you can select the teaching language. Once you have completed these steps, you select search and the list of courses will populate.

Please note:

There are only four English taught master programs (environmental science / economics / survey statistics / international economics & public policy).

All other master programs and all bachelor programs are taught in German. There are few (most of them by the English studies department) to none English taught courses in these programs.

Researching courses in English on a German university homepage can sometimes be difficult and confusing. Use the ISEP Guide to Course Selection to learn more about navigating a university website, finding courses in both English and German, and some translations of common words and major fields of study.
