Internships in Shanghai, China (in English)
Gaining experience working in China will set you apart from anyone else in your career field. Shanghai is a truly global city that rivals New York, with their unique and exotic culture. Interns in Shanghai will start their program with a one-week week language and culture introduction to help you get used to your new home. In your second week, you will start your internship and become immersed in your new workplace. You will join a select group of ambitious globally minded professionals, living in a great central location in shared apartments. Social and career activities will be offered throughout the program so you will always have something on your calendar.
HOW IT WORKS
Complete a full-time internship abroad and lay the groundwork for your future career! Work in a global environment and learn about your field from a cross-cultural perspective.
ISEP and its partners work with you to find an internship placement that matches your career aspirations, educational background and location preferences. During the application process, you will conduct a brief phone call with an ISEP Advisor to learn about your goals for interning abroad. If accepted, you will be guaranteed an internship in your desired career field.
In the months leading up to the term abroad, you will be matched with potential employers and interview with them directly to learn more about each other. If everything goes well, the internship is finalized. You will know your internship placement and role before you depart to your host country.
HOUSING
Shanghai is the most populous city in the world with most residents living in apartments. To ensure interns can experience living like the locals housing is located near main areas, or close to public transport lines.
Interns can expect to live in a furnished single bedroom within a shared apartment. The apartments will have a shared kitchen and the necessary amenities, including Wi-Fi. Matches are made based on the roommate survey. If you have any special housing needs, please mention this to a Global Experiences staff member at your time of application, and we will discuss the options available.
The housing fee is included in semester tuition cost. Prices are subject to change.
Course Description

Earning Academic Credit
You can add academic credit to your program! Adding credit can allow students to access existing financial aid options and gain credit towards graduation for many majors. This is suitable for students who attend a university that does not offer credit for internships. For more information please discuss your situation with your home university study abroad advisor and your ISEP student advisor.
You can add optional transfer credit to your program through the school of record, Fairfield University, for an additional fee. Credits may transfer as elective or major credit, with a letter grade or pass/fail, depending on your home institution's policies.
