The CzechMates program is centered on holistically developing student competencies related to critical thinking, international communication, intercultural collaboration, and practical work experience through a three-week, 3-credit course. Utilizing directed engagements with the Czech and Central European cultural context (visiting Prague, Bratislava, Vienna, Budapest, Brno, Telč and Southern Moravia), students will explore the Local as a context for understanding the Global, considering how their own culture, media, and means for communication (language, technology, symbolism, etc.) frame and connect their knowledge and personal experience of the world to broader understandings of their identity and perspective in the world. The three week Summer Experience focuses on the Globalization, Culture, and Communication course with an optional and highly recommended extention to the CzechMates Summer Internship program

CzechMates offers an unmatched opportunity for educational growth and professional development for those seeking to study abroad and go beyond. Through its design, it is specifically configured to provide integrated as well as context-specific learning, meaningful internship appointments, and an enhanced level of personal attention and committed educational support under the auspices of a director/former tenured American professor (Penn State University) with 20 years in-country engagement and extensive experience in international education and student mentoring abroad.

Included in the cost of the program:

- most transportation in-country and between countries (some local travel and airfare excepted)

- accommodation in Brno as well as excursion cities

- class tuition

- cultural and corporate site visits

- partial meals
