Live in a modern on campus student apartment within walking distance of the beach and city center! All apartments are fully furnished with full kitchen facilities, and access to coin operated laundry facilities.

Prepare meals alongside new international friends in a fully equipped shared kitchen in your apartment. The prime location of student housing has quick access to artisanal farmer’s markets and several major grocery stores near campus. Embrace the foodie culture of Nelson while sampling fresh seafood and traditional Māori dishes made with local ingredients such as pikopiko (fern shoots) or Kōwhitiwhiti (watercress).

INTERN
Consider an internship while you are at NMIT! Perfect for anyone pursuing a career in Tourism, Viticulture & Winemaking, Aquaculture & Marine Conservation, Information Technology, and Sports & Recreation Science, all internships are credit-bearing and integrated into semester coursework. Most internships require 1-2 years of university-level studies in the chosen field. Most internships are a minimum of 120 hours and worth 30 NZ academic credits.

Course Description
Programs at NMIT are taught in English and designed alongside industry to create work ready graduates that meet local and international job market’s needs. You’ll find the tight knit community at NMIT takes great care for student success, and classes are small enough that they know you by name. Popular subjects include Business, Visual Arts, Computer Science, Sports Studies and Kinesiology, and Marine Sciences.
For ISEP Direct students only, NMIT also has a great offering of graduate-level Courses in Business Management; International Business; and Logistics & Supply Chain Management. Please reach out to your ISEP Student Services Officer if you have any questions about graduate-level offerings at NMIT.
At NMIT, study abroad and exchange students can study in the subject area of their major and include courses from other subject areas, dependent on timetable clashes and meeting necessary prerequisites.
Credits Earned
Students who complete the program in good standing can expect to earn 45-60 NMIT credits which ISEP recommends is the equivalent of 12-15 U.S. Credit Hours. Each course will be worth 15-20 credits.

INTERNSHIPS
NMIT offers internship opportunities for incoming students. All internships are credit bearing and are integrated into a full semester of on-campus study. Students need to have a background in their chosen subject area in order to be eligible to participate.
Eligible students can participate in internships in the following fields of study (subject to availability): Marine Science, Information Technology, and Sports Studies & Kinesiology.
To apply for an internship, choose the relevant course for your discipline and then work with the host coordinator and academic department to identify appropriate opportunities.

Remember that NMIT operates in the Southern Hemisphere. Be sure to search for courses using the correct semester parameters: Semester 1 is February to June and Semester 2 is July to November.
