Course Description

Programs at NMIT are designed alongside industry to create work ready graduates that meet local and international job market’s needs. You’ll find the tight knit community at NMIT takes great care for student success, and classes are small enough that they know you by name.

Remember that NMIT operates in the Southern Hemisphere. Be sure to search for courses using the correct semester parameters: Semester 1 is February to June and Semester 2 is July to November.

At NMIT study abroad and exchange students can study in the subject area of their major and include courses from other subject areas, dependent on timetable clashes and meeting necessary prerequisites.

Most of the courses are worth 15 NMIT Credits (7.5 ECTS/3.75 US Semester Credits). Choosing a full year of study would equate to between 90 and 120 credits.

NMIT offers internship opportunities for incoming exchange students. The experiences are usually major-specific, and the length of placement varies depending on the subject as well. All internships are credit bearing and are integrated into a full semester of on-campus study. Students need to have a background in their chosen subject area in order to be eligible to participate, except for internships in Tourism.

Eligible students can participate in internships in the following fields of study (subject to availability): Tourism, Viticulture & Winemaking, Aquaculture & Marine Conservation, Information Technology, and Sports & Recreation Science.

See here for a profile of a study abroad student from the US who completed a Tourism internship/volunteer experience through one of her NMIT courses!
