At Sussex, we believe that your study abroad experience should be all about discovery. Design your study abroad programme by taking a range of different modules from across our nine schools of study. There are hundreds of courses open to you to help boost your academic knowledge and succeed in your degree.

HOUSING

Find a place you can call home at Sussex. You will be housed in university-managed accommodation. You will receive a housing form once you are accepted to study at Sussex and our Housing Team will allocate you a room in a dormitory or shared flat.

MEALS

ISEP students will receive a stipend to use in grocery stores and university shops for their meals.

Course Description

Choose from hundreds of modules across multiple disciplines. Read some of our helpful tips when selecting your modules:

You can select modules from different levels (years) and combine modules from different subjects to construct your study programme.

- Modules are listed by subject area, although some changes may be made to module form or content.

- We recommend you don't take too many modules with a type of assessment that you may find difficult or stressful, and you should talk to your academic adviser at your home university as well as your ISEP Student Advisor before you apply.

- If the mode of assessment says 'observation,' the module will be assessed on a pass/fail basis. You will not receive a grade for the module.

- Most study abroad students take level 5 (second-year) modules but if you have a strong background in a subject, you can take level 6 (third-year) modules. However, some modules have prerequisites (included in the module description).

- You may be able to choose level 4 (first-year) modules if you want to take an introductory module in a subject you've not studied before.

- Level 4 modules roughly correspond to the US sophomore or European second year, and level 5 and 6 modules to American junior and senior levels.

You can take any combination of modules for which you are academically qualified, including a mix of arts, humanities, social sciences, science and technology modules. The total number of credits you should take are: 120 credits for a full year, and 60 credits for one term.

Autumn term teaching ends in December, and students can leave straight away as the assessments are all online with deadlines in January. Autumn only students don’t have to do anything special in order to have this approved and it is presumed that most will leave in December. However, housing is available until the beginning of January.
