Students can choose from a variety of courses. Södertörn University offers more than 80 courses taught in English. Each semester is divided into four periods of about one month each. Students usually schedule one full-time course per period. Courses span one or two periods. There are also a few half-speed courses that span two periods, and two of these can easily be taken simultaneously. Swedish courses are worth 7.5  or 15 points (equivalent to about four or eight U.S. credits).

Södertörn University welcomes students at the sophomore level and above. However, sophomores should be aware that they have fewer courses to choose from since many are taught at a supplementary and advanced level, including all business and natural science courses, and most of the economic and political science courses. Course pre-requisites are usually one to two years previous study in the particular field.

ISEP students are welcome to take courses that are part of the different master's degree programs without having a bachelor's degree, but they must have obtained enough required credits in the specific subject.

Students studying English can do so with Swedish students. For information about courses available, please contact the ISEP coordinator at Södertörn University.

In some cases, students studying biology or microbiology can do lab work either as a course or as voluntary work. If a student is interested in doing lab work, please contact the ISEP coordinator at Södertörn University well in advance of applying to ISEP to find out if it is possible.
