Language & Culture Program (in French)

Only 6 miles from the Mediterranean coast, Montpellier is a vibrant city with a large university population. Montpellier also offers a rich medieval history and a unique mélange of Mediterranean cultures.  Students on the ISEP Direct Language & Culture program focus on French language and culture courses starting at the advanced-beginner level at the Institut d'Études Françaises pour Étrangers (IEFE). Students take courses alongside non-native French speakers from all over the word. This program offers students the great opportunity to improve their language skills alongside international students. 

This program has an instructional focus on French language and culture. Each semester, the program will combine intensive French language study. It is also possible to take thematic classes arranged by the International Relations Office. Students also have the possibility to take one or two regular university courses if language requirements are met. The intensive French as a foreign language courses consist of 15 to 17 hours of classes per week (depending on the level in French) for 13 weeks through the Institut d'Études Françaises pour Étrangers, IEFE. A student tutor will also be available for additional help. This option includes three excursions per semester that focus on regional cultural topics.

Special Application Instructions

Students should have at least 2 semesters of French to be eligible for this program. The program is not open to Beginners.

IMPORTANT: All students requesting Montpellier must fill out the supplemental Moveon application and Interlog housing procedures as soon as they receive their initial placement email from ISEP (or by October 1st for Spring, or April 15th for Fall). Failure to complete the application by the deadline could jeopardize placement. Students will only receive their official acceptance letters once the Moveon registration procedures are complete.
