LIFE ABROAD

YISS participants can join weekly activity classes to experience more of South Korean culture. Past experiences include K-Pop dance instruction and Taekwondo. Registration is free, but the activities may require additional materials for a fee.

Excursions & Cultural Experiences
On Fridays, YISS students may join optional organized opportunities like a Seoul City tour, Korean Folk Villiage Tour, Boryeong Mud festival and DMZ tour. Availability and options may be limited by COVID restrictions. Some activities may require an additional fee, the average price is 50,000 KRW.

Intern
YISS offers exclusive 20 hours/week internship positions in corporate organizations and in research centers or organizations at Yonsei University. The YISS internship is a competitive opportunity and is not guaranteed to all YISS students. Students interested in an internship should notify their ISEP Student Services Officer when completing their application. Additional cost of 200,000 KRW upon placement.

Housing & Meals
Housing is included in your program fee. Yonsei offers two on-campus housing options for international students: the SK Global House (double room) or the International House (double or single room). Two-Week Quarantine Requirement

At this time, South Korea requires all international students to quarantine for two weeks upon arrival. Students who do not have a visa must self-isolate at a government facility. The estimated cost for this is $1800 for two weeks (basic room and meal costs are included, however, if a student tests positive for COVID-19, extra individual costs may be incurred for transportation and treatment at a hospital). Students who enter the country with a D-2 visa can set up a self-quarantine space individually and self-isolate.

ISEP recommends that all students plan to arrive two weeks prior to the program start date to complete their quarantine and advises that they should be prepared for the additional cost. We will provide further guidance when entry requirements are finalized. We encourage students to consider getting a COVID vaccine if they are eligible.

Course Description

Yonsei International Summer School offers English-taught classes and Korean language classes. Check Yonsei's YISS course page for a comprehensive list of courses. Students will choose to enroll in two courses (for 6 U.S. credits) or three courses (for 9 U.S. credits). Tuition fees are based on the number of credits. Please note: In 2021, some classes will be offered online, some will be offered in person, and some will be a hybrid.

Students who complete the program in good standing can expect to earn 3-9 credits which ISEP recommends is the equivalent of 3-9 U.S. Credit Hours. Each course will be worth 3 Korean credits / 3 US credit hours.

Please note that if you use financial aid, you may be required to earn 6 US credits to be eligible for summer aid. Please speak with a qualified financial aid advisor to understand your eligibility and the requirements for using financial aid.
