PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The International Business Program is jointly offered by the ESCI-UPF International Business School and the UPF Education Abroad Program. The program is aimed at undergraduate students with a major or minor in business who wish to acquire an international perspective and a better understanding of the successful management practices needed to compete in the global economy.

The program is designed to offer students insight into international business from a multicultural perspective and to improve their professional qualifications. The program is suitable for both students with a strong command of Spanish and for those wishing to take courses only in English, as it includes courses taught in both English and Spanish.

All students who complete the ESCI-UPF International Business Program requirements listed below will be awarded a joint certificate from the ESCI International Business School and the UPF Eduation Abroad Program attesting that they have successfully completed at least two international business courses. Completion of the certificate is optional - students who wish to complete the certificate must complete the International Management course. Students who do not plan on receiving the certificate are welcome to take other elective Business courses, BaPIS courses, Spanish language courses (highly recommended), and regular UPF courses.

Students are invited to a wide variety of opportunities to interact with local students, engage in volunteering activities, and develop a true intercultural experience during their time in Barcelona.

ISEP's programs in Barcelona also offer benefits above and beyond a typical ISEP program, including a dedicated onsite Resident Director, Maria Mateu.

HOUSING

During their time in Barcelona ISEP students will live in a student residence located close to UPF. The residence is also within walking distance of the beach and a short trip on public transport to the city center. Rooms are double-occupancy and cooking facilities are provided. Rooms are double-occupancy and include an en-suite bathroom and a fully equipped kitchen.

Meals are not included. Students will have access to grocery stores, cooking facilities, and a multitude of dining options with affordable meal choices.

Course Description

Students can view below the courses offered in the International Business Program (IBP) for Fall 2022 and Spring 2023. Fall 2023 courses will be announced in late spring 2023.

Students may combine courses at the IBP with cross-enrollment in other UPF Education Abroad programs, including the ESCI-UPF Undergraduate courses, the BaPIS program courses and regular UPF courses in their field of study. Enrollment in a Spanish as a Second Language course is also highly encouraged.

Students enroll in 24-30 ECTS per semester, which is generally equivalent to 12-15 U.S. credits. Given the rigor of the UPF curriculum, it is recommended that students consider enrolling in 24 ECTS if their home university requirements allow for this option.

- Barcelona Program for Interdisciplinary Studies (BaPIS) courses (taught in English or Spanish)

NOTE: Space in UPF regular courses can be very competitive, particularly in the fields of Economics, Communications, Humanities and Engineering. During the enrollment process students will work with the Resident Director to develop a varied course list, but classes can not be guaranteed. Students who plan to take courses in Economics, Communications, Humanities or Engineering should plan to balance their enrollment with courses from the Interdisciplinary Program and/or a Spanish Language course.
